Joe’s plan
Joe’s Plan to Clean Up the Washington Swamp
Washington has become far too comfortable serving itself. Joe’s plan begins with three commonsense reforms to make Congress less profitable, less permanent, and finally accountable for the money it spends.
- 1
Congress Is Not a Stock Exchange
Ban Insider Trading
From Nancy Pelosi's famously successful portfolio to suspiciously well-timed trades across both parties, Americans have every reason to question whether members of Congress are playing by the same rules as everyone else.
Joe will vote to prohibit members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from trading individual stocks while in office. Public service should serve the public, not provide privileged opportunities for private profit.
- 2
Congress Is Not a Retirement Plan
Enact Term Limits
Mitch McConnell entered the United States Senate when Ronald Reagan was president. Whatever party they represent, no elected official should spend four decades treating a seat in Congress like permanent property.
Joe supports firm congressional term limits so new leaders can rise, new ideas can be heard, and public officials remember that they work for the people. Experience has value, but Washington was never supposed to become a lifetime career.
- 3
Congress: Put Away the Credit Card
Balanced Budget
Central Florida families cannot spend without limits, ignore the bill, and leave the balance to their children. Congress should not be allowed to do it either.
Joe supports a balanced budget amendment requiring Washington to live within its means, confront wasteful spending, and make honest decisions about national priorities. The national debt clock should be a warning, not a scoreboard.
